This is the season when grass cutting in the village by Surrey County Council begins and needs to be done properly so the quality of the environment can be maintained. However, recent cutting that took place has left the cuttings on the pathways.
The grass was cut in early May in Stanwell Moor by Surrey County Council. It carries out five urban cuts between April and November 2024. The work leaves a lot to be desired and the fact that the cuttings were not collected means the verges and paths look untidy. The Council’s position is that “raking up, loading, transporting and getting rid of grass cuttings would also increase the cost of the grass cutting substantially.” The Council is exploring the use of vehicles that cut and clear grass.
Aside from the poor state of verges and footpaths from uncollected cuttings there is also the risk of slipping on them, blocked drains and increased risk of flooding. We want the Council to effectively maintain the verges in the village and the cost of clearing up the waste cuttings is value for money.
